I am a bonafide "baby boomer" born in Western Canada a generation away from Pioneeing Immigrants. Before I was born my mother prayed she would have a baby girl who would have blonde hair, blue eyes and love art and music. So it's her fault if those are my passions. It's also the fault of being raised in India from ages 5 - 16 when they were Missionaries that my main role models were teachers and preachers. I found a niche in Instructing and Public Speaking. I chose to get higher education and training in the Arts, specifically commercial art, and leave music as a hobby for impromptu entertainment or church.
My parents gave us ample opportunity to exercise our creatitiy and much of what we owned was recycled, repurposed, and refinished, long before those were in demand as they are today. There's nothing like lack of resources to become very innovative and find creative use for available and inexpensive things. |
